sslx
A modern alternative to OpenSSL's CLI. Generate, inspect, and convert certificates without memorizing flags.
If you've ever tried to generate a self-signed certificate with OpenSSL, you know the pain. Fifteen flags, half of which you have to google every time, and one wrong move gives you a cert that doesn't work. sslx replaces the most common OpenSSL commands with a clean interface. Generate self-signed certs with one command. Inspect a remote server's certificate chain. Convert between PEM, DER, and PKCS#12 formats. Check when a cert expires. All without memorizing flags. Written in Rust with zero external dependencies for the core library. Single binary, works on Linux, macOS, and Windows. The kind of tool you install once and forget it's not part of the OS.
